Aliens are landing in DC!!

It worked!! The Aliens are scheduled to play on Sept 21st at the Rock And Roll Hotel!

Have you picked up their new Astronomy for Dogs album? A lot of is familiar to those of you who paid for import EPs like the awesome Alienoid Starmonica. I still need to load it on my iPod to give it more attention, but first few listens rocked (loudly) on the home hi-fi.

It's inspiring to hear such pure pop beauty coming from a man who seemed to have been heading to a sad destiny of isolation and mental illness. And it's such a great summer album - I can't wait to play it in the bug with the windows rolled down.

I can't help myself, I need to include lone pigeon's buddy icon, in all its distracting glory.
Edited to add that I already bought my tix. Hee hee hee.

In the mood for a bolero

Been meaning to post this...and to check out these videos. These songs remind me of dancing for my grandparents in the living room of my childhood home in NY.

Or as Boing Boing put it, YouTubes to make your Mexican grandmother cry. Enjoy!
